Operational Excellence 3PL Warehouse
1. Operational Improvement & Process Optimization
• Lead site-wide continuous improvement initiatives across Inbound, Putaway, Pick/Pack, Shipping, Inventory, and Returns (Reverse Logistics).
• Map current workflows using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify bottlenecks, excessive travel time, and operational waste.
• Organize and facilitate Kaizen events, 5S workplace optimizations, and root-cause problem solving sessions (5 Whys, Fishbone, A3).
• Partner with floor management to re-slot high-velocity SKUs and optimize warehouse layouts to increase throughput.
2. Direct Leadership & Operations Director Support
• Serve as the primary continuous improvement advisor to the Operations Director, presenting operational data, productivity trends, and cost-saving progress.
• Deputize for site operations leadership during client audits, operational reviews, and daily management huddles.
• Mentor and coach floor supervisors, team leads, and warehouse associates in Lean methodologies and standard work execution.
• Direct change-management efforts on the floor during process modifications, WMS updates, or new client onboardings.
3. Performance Tracking, Data Analytics & SLAs
• Track and report core 3PL metrics: Cost Per Unit (CPU), Dock-to-Stock cycle time, Pick/Pack rates, On-Time In-Full (OTIF), and Inventory Accuracy (IRA).
• Build and maintain daily visual management boards (SQDCP) and operational performance dashboards.
• Analyze daily WMS throughput data and labor efficiency to assist the Operations Director with capacity modeling and labor planning.
• Identify recurring order errors or SLA misses and implement poka-yoke (mistake-proofing) controls to prevent reoccurrence.
4. Client Onboarding & Cross-Functional Alignment
• Support the operational setup and workflow design for new client onboardings and seasonal volume spikes.
• Collaborate with Inventory Control, IT/WMS administrators, and EHS (Safety) leads to resolve operational friction points.
• Audit compliance with account-specific client SLAs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Experience: 6–7 years of experience in 3PL, warehousing, or contract logistics operations, with at least 2–3 years spent leading process improvement projects or supervising warehouse teams.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or Operations Management (or equivalent practical experience).
• Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required (Lean/5S practitioner experience preferred; Black Belt not required).
• Technical Skills:
Solid working knowledge of enterprise Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (e.g., Manhattan, Blue Yonder, HighJump, SAP EWM, or mid-tier equivalents like Logiwa or 3PL Central).
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, data visualization) and process mapping software (Visio or similar).
Hands-on mastery of practical Lean tools (5S, Gemba Walks, VSM, Root Cause Analysis, Kanban).
• Core Competencies:
Pragmatic, hands-on problem solver with a strong floor presence in high-velocity warehouse environments.
Clear communication and stakeholder management skills—able to present findings to the Operations Director while effectively coaching floor operators.
Strong familiarity with mid-sized 3PL operational dynamics, multi-tenant billing models, and client SLA management.
